Several bloggers this morning are giving FOX News some well earned praise for asking the most relevant question imaginable in its latest poll:
If there is an all-out war between the United States and various radical Muslim groups worldwide, who would you rather have in charge — Democrats or Republicans?
Hilarious. What does that even mean? Will FOX soon be adding pressing issues such as, “If there is an all-out war between the United States and an alliance of robots intent on enslaving humanity, would you vote for the reanimated corpse of Ronald Reagan or the reanimated corpse of FDR to lead humanity’s newly constructed clone armies?” to its polls?
Oh, wait, I almost forgot the punchline: Respondents prefer the Democrats, 41% to 38%.
To be honest, I’m much more disturbed by the pair of questions right before this detour into the absurd, in which respondents are asked regarding Democrats and then regarding Republicans:
Whoever is elected president will be on television constantly for at least four years.
Which one of the following candidates would you most want to watch on television for four years?
Is FOX News doing market research before supporting a candidate for president?
Our democracy is dangerously ill.
